Emailed Received Jacques, Now that the question of whether it is possible to work in CA without a license has been resolved ? yes, you can if you do not reduce the act of analysis to that of a barber offering services ? and those who ?just want to have fun? have fled the scene, I would propose that this list make room for more serious questions about the transatlantic adventure of psychoanalysis. I began by asking Jacques if he could help us understand what some have called the 'co-optization' of lacanian analysis by psychiatry in France by the two Apostles, Melman and Miller. I think you Jacques, as a psychiatrist, are particularly well-suited to help us understand the risks of this trivialization. I, and others, would welcome a response if you have the time. (see my previous question on Lacan?s ?Section Clinique?) I do think this question is particularly relevant to the practice of analysis in the US and France today, since a similar trivialization happened in the US when Freud tried importing analysis to the US, and it was immediately seized upon by the psychiatrists and the medical community, despite Freud?s warnings (See his article on Lay-Analysis). I am currently in touch with another psychiatrist in France, Ren? Lew, whom I could invite to respond to this question also, but I wanted to ask you first. with joy, ScullyRobert

Dear Jacques, I am sorry for the delay in my response - *I received* your email below sent at the end of November. Because of limited time, I sometimes don't track all the emails but from what I understand, after the NOV 5 Lacanalysis meeting that I joined half-way through, there were 2 tentative Lacanalysis meetings that did not take place -- one because you were not available late November and the most recent one when Aviva proposed a meeting for last Friday but only Quinn confirmed - I didn't see your reply or a Zoom link, I presume that the meeting did not happen. In any case, for 2 months (since October) I have had in my schedule the event of Corpo Freudiano Paris this Monday (DEC 15) evening with you and Mario Eduardo. As always, it is a pleasure to attend your presentations and although this is a very busy week for me, I put it in my schedule 2 months ago because I do not want to miss it! I will be present and I look forward to seeing you online. Bien amicalement, Lucinda. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Jacques B.
