Bonjour ? tous, il y avait bien longtemps que je ne vous avais pas propos? un petit texte ? lire. Celui-ci s'appelle : La rude discipline du commentaire, sa place dans les "formations" du psychanalyste. Sans savoir o? j'allais ? l'avance, c'est amusant parce que je suis tomb?e sur le fait qu'au moment o? il ?crivait Le don du po?me, Mallarm? devenait p?re, non pas de ses oeuvres, H?rodiade, devant lequel il ?tait en panne, mais de sa fille, Genevi?ve.

Le psychanalyste Jacques-Alain Miller examine pour Le Point le fait
divers qui secoue l?Autriche, o? l?on d?couvre comment Josef Fritzl,
73 ans, a s?questr? sa fille pendant vingt-quatre ans et lui a fait
sept enfants. Pour Miller, ce qui sort de l?ordinaire, ce n?est pas
l?inceste, c?est ? la r?gularit? invariable d?un acte immonde ?.
Interview.
Le Point : Qu?est-ce qui peut conduire un individu ? un tel degr? de
perversion ?
Jacques-Alain Miller : Une bonne ?ducation, ? l?ancienne, de hautes
vertus morales... Je m?explique. Par quels traits Das Inzest-Monster,
comme l?appellent les Autrichiens, restera- t-il dans les annales
cliniques et polici?res ? Vous pensez bien qu?il ne le devra pas au
seul fait de l?inceste, pratique fort r?pandue, ni non plus au nombre
de ses victimes. S?il est exceptionnel, c?est par la t?nacit?, la
constance, l?endurance. Ce qui sort de l?ordinaire, c?est la
r?gularit? invariable d?un acte immonde, la m?thode, la minutie et
l?esprit de s?rieux investis dans l?accomplissement solitaire d?un
forfait unique s??tendant sur un quart de si?cle. Pas une erreur, pas
un faux pas, pas un acte manqu?. Total quality. Ce sont l? autant de
qualit?s ?minentes traditionnellement attribu?es au caract?re
germanique. Mises au service de la science et de l?industrie, elles
ont fait la r?putation des pays de langue allemande. D?ailleurs,
c??tait un ing?nieur en ?lectricit?, et il disait ? sa femme qu?il
descendait dans sa cave pour dessiner des plans de machines.
Si Gilles de Rais en France, Erzsebeth Bathory en Hongrie, grands
f?odaux des XVe et XVIe si?cles, restent dans les m?moires, c?est au
contraire pour le d?sordre de leur conduite, leurs viols et
assassinats innombrables. L?Autrichien, petit notable provincial, lui
aussi est un tyran, mais purement domestique. Il m?ne une existence
parfaitement ? popote ?, mais d?doubl?e. Il est fid?le ? sa fille
Elizabeth, unique objet de sa jouissance, dont il fait en quelque
sorte une seconde ?pouse. Il lui donne sept enfants, le m?me nombre
qu?? son ?pouse l?gitime. Il semble que l?on ne puisse lui reprocher
ni avortement ni contraception : c?est un bon catholique. Il op?re
dans la plus grande discr?tion, sa conduite n?est l?occasion d?aucun
scandale, d?autant que cette seconde famille, il la fait vivre sous
terre, dans des cagibis aveugles o? l?on ne peut se tenir debout, ? la
Louis XI.
Ce n?est tout de m?me pas son ?ducation qui peut expliquer sa conduite !
On a appris qu?il fut ?lev? sans p?re par une m?re qui tous les jours
le battait comme pl?tre. Le fait n?a pas d? rester sans cons?quences.
On peut toujours dire qu?il voulait se venger de l?objet f?minin et se
pr?munir contre ses caprices... Mais on serait bien en peine d?en
d?duire son vice : d?autres issues ?taient possibles. En 1967, au
moment de la naissance d?Elizabeth, son quatri?me enfant, il fut
arr?t? pour un viol ; il en aurait commis d?autres. Tout se passe
comme s?il avait d?cid? de se ranger, et de s?en tenir ? une bigamie
incestueuse. On ne lui conna?t que quelques escapades sexuelles en
Tha?lande, avec des copains, notables de la ville. Il en revenait
bronz?, en pleine forme, aupr?s de sa petite famille, qui, elle, ne
voyait jamais le soleil.
Etait-il une sorte de Dr Jekyll-Mr Hyde ?
C??tait ? la fois un P?re s?v?re, le P?re de la loi, dont la rigueur
implacable ?tonnait ceux qui le voyaient r?gir sa famille du dessus
et, avec sa famille du dessous, un P?re jouisseur, hors la loi. Dans
ces deux r?les, ? un certain niveau, il fut irr?prochable : songez
qu?il assura sans faillir un instant la subsistance de tous les siens.
En m?me temps, c??tait sans doute un escroc : de ses op?rations
immobili?res il ne reste que des dettes consid?rables. C?est l?Etat
qui devra payer les ann?es de psychoth?rapie et r??ducation qui seront
n?cessaires ? la famille du dessous. Le montant en aurait d?ores et
d?j? ?t? ?valu? ? 1 million d?euros.
La culture patriarcale, l?empreinte catholique, la religion du ?
chacun chez soi ?, qui marquent l?Autriche, ont-elles pu jouer un r?le ?
Certains de ces traits valent pour la Sicile. Or on imagine mal une
telle histoire ? Syracuse ou Trapani : l?, les gens qui vivent entre
quatre murs sans sortir sont plut?t des mafieux pourchass?s par les
carabiniers.
Mais est-ce un hasard si, apr?s ? l?affaire Kampusch ?, ce fait divers
?clate en Autriche ?
Le cas Fritzl apr?s l?affaire Kampusch, cela fait sens,
n?cessairement. Tandis que les Etats-Unis sont la terre b?nie des
serial killers, l?Autriche prend rang avec la Belgique pour les
pervers casaniers ? souterrain, si je puis dire. Le cas pr?sent se
distingue par son atmosph?re d?ob?issance aveugle. Non pas seulement
celle de sa femme : Fritzl louait des chambres dans sa maison, une
centaine de locataires y d?fil?rent au cours du temps, il leur disait
de ne pas descendre dans son bunker, et aucun ne songea ? enfreindre
cette interdiction. On d?plore volontiers les infractions faites de
nos jours au respect de la vie priv?e : c?est un reproche que l?on ne
fera pas aux Autrichiens. A la Ybbstrasse, tout ?tait en ordre, la
fa?ade pimpante, le r?frig?rateur souterrain bien garni, les v?tements
bien lav?s et repass?s. On regardait la t?l?vision en famille. Le
bunker ? C??tait un abri antiatomique familial, ?difi? ? l?aide de
subventions officielles. Un grand crime populaire, c?est toujours un
fait social total, pour reprendre l?expression de Marcel Mauss : c?est
un microcosme de la soci?t?, elle s?y refl?te tout enti?re. Fritzl :
criminel peut-?tre, mais Korrekt avant tout. En r?gle. Pas de
tr?buchement. Pas d?inconscient. Pas de sentiment de culpabilit?.
Au regard de l?histoire pass?e, peut-on parler d?un peuple qui ?
refoule ? sans cesse, refusant de regarder la r?alit? en face ?
C?est ce que disent les Anglais. Ils voient en Fritzl un symbole de
l?Autriche. C?est aussi l?id?e du romancier Josef Haslinger. La maison
natale de Hitler est ? une heure et demie d?Amstetten par la route,
Mauthausen plus proche encore. Le chancelier annonce une grande
campagne internationale de relations publiques pour am?liorer l?image
de l?Autriche. Des esprits pratiques lui demandent plut?t des sous
pour les services sociaux. Un dessin du Times de Londres montre
l?Autriche allong?e sur un divan ; derri?re, Sigmund Freud. On peut
rappeler que le pays a pris soin d??radiquer la psychanalyse, ou peu
s?en faut. L?avocat plaidera l?ali?nation mentale. Au vu de l?extr?me
ma?trise de soi dans le crime et la dur?e du d?lit, l?irresponsabilit?
ne va pas de soi.

Tout a fait. Dommage pour l'enregistrement. Peut-?tre quelqu'un pourrait vous pr?ter un enregistreur. La journ?e semble assez dense en conf?rences de rencontres entre la neurologie et la psychanalyse. Et une rencontre comme tout ce qui est tr?s pr?cieux est aussi difficile que rare.
Venant de Bruxelles, pour moi la rencontre semble d?j? bien difficile au niveau de la logistique !
